The deadline for recruiting firms and temp agencies to become licensed in Ontario has been extended from January 1, 2024 to July 1, 2024.  This means that employers who use these agencies will not be subject to applicable fines of up to $50,000 for knowingly using unlicensed agencies, until the new licensing requirements take effect next July.  Here is a link to my previous client update on this topic, which suggests steps on how employers can protect themselves against the risk of fines, and associated reputational risks in their communities from using unlicensed sources of labour: New Legal Requirements Affect Employers who use Recruiters and Temp Agencies – Agency Employment Services
